Carl Froch has fired a warning to the Anthony Joshua camp, stating that he believes the Brit could come face-to-face with the best ever Wladimir Klitschko.

The veteran Ukrainian has just turned 41 and will have been out of action for 18 months when he takes to the canvas at Wembley Stadium on the April 29.

Anticipation and excitement levels are slowly brewing for now, but are expected to leap to unprecedented levels as the fight draws nearer, and now Carl Froch, a former three-time super-middleweight world champion has weighed in with his thoughts on the titanic bout.

Froch told Sky Sports News: "We know Klitschko is an ageing fighter but with age comes wisdom and the experience he's got.

"He's had 68 fights and he was unbeaten in 10 years as a heavyweight up until he faced Tyson Fury and that was an awkward, torrid night for him.

"He had problems in the background with his wife [Hayden Panettiere] going through post-natal depression and it wasn't publicised much but if he had something else on his mind, wasn't switched on and on top of that had someone like Tyson Fury goading him, smiling and doing his weird dance for 12 rounds, he just couldn't get going."

Klitschko lost his IBF, WBA, and WBO world titles to Tyson Fury in November 2015 on a ghastly night for the Ukrainian, but Froch believes that a packed out Wembley Stadium might just be the blue touch paper needed to ignite the best in the ‘Dr. Steelhammer’.

"It's at Wembley Stadium and if he is thinking this is my final fight on this stage - with 90,000 not 80,000 - and if he thinks to himself this is it for me, my exit card, my final fight you know he is going to turn up,” said Froch.

Joshua will be defending his IBF title, a title that Klitschko used to own himself, for the third time and will be headlining what is undoubtedly going to be a monumental night for both men at the iconic national stadium.

Joshua has fought at Wembley before; he was on the under-card on the night Froch overcame George Groves back in May 2014.

That was only his 6th professional fight, and now the 27-year-old is preparing for his 19th.

Froch believes that, while Joshua has so much in his favour in terms of his overall ability, his lack of experience could play a major role.

"Klitschko is going to be at the best he can possibly be and Joshua is inexperienced. That is the only word I am going to use about Joshua because he is good, excellent, in every other department."
