Although a lot of the focus is understandably on WrestleMania 33 this Sunday, fans can’t help but think about whether The Hardy Boyz will be involved at some point. There have been plenty of rumours circulating over the past month or so, and now that Broken Matt and Brother Nero are no longer with Impact Wrestling, the assumption has been that a WWE return is on the cards.

WWE RETURN

As we know, though, it’s never as easy as that, as there are – or have been – plenty of stumbling blocks to overcome before making this happen.

There has been speculation about their involvement at the Grandest Stage of Them All this Sunday, as it was believed that WWE’s use of ladders on Monday Night RAW, as well as making the tag team title bout into a ladder match, was a subtle hint that they could be involved.

However, others have claimed they could have a segment with the New Day instead, who will be hosting the show, but the safest bet will perhaps be the RAW after WrestleMania.

Many are believing that this is all talk, as they’re currently signed to Ring of Honor. However, it’s been confirmed on numerous occasions that the deal is a short-term one, which will expire on Saturday – the night before WrestleMania – where they’re expected to drop the tag team titles to the Young Bucks in a ladder match at Supercard of Honor 11.

With one hurdle out of the way, another one pops up in the form of Impact Wrestling, and all of the legal issues that surround the whole Broken gimmick.

BROKEN GIMMICK

Matt and his wife Reby believe they own the trademark, but recently, Impact has decided to put ‘TM’ next to all mention of Broken on their website and their YouTube channel, and wherever else the gimmick is featured.

The two applied for the trademark back in February where they found out they’d have to battle Impact Wrestling for the gimmick, but we’ve still seen WWE make Broken references on Twitter which has obviously got fans assuming that not only will they return to Vince McMahon’s organisation, but they won’t need to alter their characters.

Well, according to Ring Side news, that’s exactly the case.

If rumours are to be believed, then fans will be very happy to learn that The Hardy Boyz will be using the Broken gimmick in WWE – and if Impact Wrestling decides to jump in and prove a nuisance, then the two have grounds to file suit against the company, per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

It looks like nothing will stop WWE from cashing in on the popularity of the Broken universe, and if Impact wants to get involved in a legal battle with WWE over it; good luck with that.
