With WrestleMania 33 right around the corner, the two stars the majority of WWE fans are looking forward to seeing aren’t officially with the company yet – or so it seems. The situation surrounding The Hardy Boyz continues to take an unexpected and entertaining path every day, but the general assumption now is that Broken Matt and Brother Nero will be back in Vince McMahon’s company relatively soon, and it could happen as early as WrestleMania weekend.

WWE RETURN

It’s almost impossible to keep up with exactly what’s going on, but everything that has happened over the past month or so all points to one thing – a WWE return is practically a guarantee.

Broken Matt has openly mentioned the WWE on numerous occasions, and a quick scroll through his Twitter account will show you that not only are fans intrigued to know where he and his brother will end up, but there’s been a lot of interaction with WWE and its roster.

Earlier this week, WWE finally made a reference to Broken Matt in the most obvious way possible, and it immediately had fans thinking that a return was imminent.

BROKEN REFERENCES

WWE’s earlier reference to the Broken gimmick saw them show a clip of the brothers in action at WrestleMania 25, where they tweeted: “You better believe tables were BROKEN in the battle between The #HardyBoyz at the 25th Anniversary of #WrestleMania! #WWENetwork.”

That prompted a response from Matt, where he replied: “Did someone say #BROKEN? EXQUISITE.”

WWE and Broken Matt have been at it again on social media, and they’re not doing a great job of being subtle if a return is on the cards.

This time it was the WWE Universe account that made the reference as they responded to a fan who was also looking back at the match from WrestleMania 25.

They responded: “That match was pretty WONDERFUL wasn’t it? #WAMWednesday.”

Fans will know that the term ‘wonderful’ is just one of many terms Broken Matt has made synonymous with his character, and he responded in character.

He replied: “YEEEAAAASSS, it was absolutely… @WWEUniverse.”

He accompanied his response with a clip and once again it has fans on social media excited at the prospect of them working together, plus WWE doesn’t usually drop hints like these, especially with stars that are with rival promotions or left on bad terms.

The interesting thing to note is that there have been rumours that WWE will allow them to use the Broken gimmick, despite the current legal battle with Impact Wrestling.

Their Ring of Honor contracts also expire this Saturday, one night before WrestleMania so all eyes will be on WWE this weekend to see what unfolds – and you can’t forget the fact that the company has already offered them contracts.
