A story surfaced last month about Peter Crouch’s incredible success in Fantasy Football.
The Stoke City striker was ranked inside the top one per cent of all competitors with a team that was worth £101.2 million.
In his team, Crouchy had selected Diego Costa, Romelu Lukaku, Dele Alli and Alexis Sanchez, and was no doubt rubbing his fortunes into the 11 teammates that he sat ahead of in Stoke’s 12-man private league.
When asked for comment, Crouch told the Stoke Sentinel: “I am flying!”
Fair play to the former England striker. We’ve reached the point in the season where many players have already given up on Fantasy Football, but one images Crouch is eager to continue his bid to claim bragging rights inside the Stoke dressing room.
But for those still in with a chance of winning their private leagues, we’ve reached the business end of the year. From April onwards, it’s time to increase your research, put the finishing touches on your squad and desperately hope your players continue to play well.
Another person in that boat is Owen Hargreaves, who is absolutely crushing his league.
Hargreaves is smashing it
With nine gameweeks remaining in the season, the former Manchester United midfielder is sitting 229th in the world out of more than 4.4 million competitors.
Hargreaves, whose team is comically named: ‘WhenTheOwenGetsTough’, has amassed 1,757 points - the #1 player has 1,878 points - and his team is valued at £102.5m.
Check out the team that has taken Hargreaves to such Fantasy Football heights below.

Great midfield
Up front, Hargreaves has selected Andy Carroll and Lukaku, who was his captain in the last gameweek.
His impressive five-man midfield includes Leroy Sane, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alexis Sanchez, Pedro and Alli.
Defensive concerns
Hargreaves has some concerns in defence, though. He’s picked Marcos Alonso, Chris Brunt and Seamus Coleman, who will need replacing after the Everton defender suffered a broken leg on international duty.
In goal, he selected Burnley’s Tom Heaton.
Jordan Pickford, Manolo Gabbiadini, Dejan Lovren and Jordi Amat are on Hargreaves’ bench.
