Alexis Sanchez has unquestionably been Arsenal's best player this season, but there's an argument to be made even he has been outshone by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain recently.

Since returning to the starting line-up against Bournemouth on January 3, the England international has blossomed in central midfield using his pace, energy and composure on the ball.

And it's about time too. The Ox is now 23-years-old and, if he's going to reach his vast potential, must start producing the goods on a regular basis.

Reports suggest he could be on the move this summer following another frustrating campaign in north London, but Arsene Wenger hopes he stays to keep improving.

When asked recently about said rumours, Wenger responded: "The only thing I can say is that personally I rate him highly.

"I showed that in the way I keep faith in him when he spent long times out injured. He’s developing very well at the moment.

"I personally wish that he stays at the club because I think he's a very promising player who developed very well. He looks to have the values that we rate at this club."

Oxlade-Chamberlain has emerged as an important player for Arsenal, not just because of his ability but because of his infectious personality.

The former Southampton prospect is renowned for having a cheeky side and, according to himself, that once worked against him regarding a current teammate.

In an interview as part of 'Arsenal Albums' (see below), Oxlade-Chamberlain reflected on his career and spoke specifically about his friendship with Carl Jenkinson.

According to the Ox, he was once banned from being in Jenkinson's room and speaking to him on away days - because he made him laugh too much.

He said: "Jenko's been a big part of my Arsenal career to date. He's very serious about his football. Over the years I've seen him go through different spells of how he prepares himself.

"I can remember times when we used to be on away trips and he used to ban me from coming to chill in his room.

"I'd make him laugh too much. He didn't want that, he didn't want any tension in his legs. He wanted a full rest so I was banned from his room on away days."

Strange. Jenkinson banned Oxlade-Chamberlain from his room to make sure he was mentally and physically prepared for Arsenal's away games... well that worked out well.

The right-back is currently on the fringes of Wenger's squad and, six years on from joining from Charlton, looks set for a summer move away.
