Next month will see Anthony Joshua, the IBF heavyweight champion, and Wladimir Klitschko face off at Wembley. This match has been highly touted from the word go and features two legitimate stars in the world of boxing.

Joshua stands at 18-0 and has many fans outside the UK asking if he’s really that good. This bout will go a long way in determining if the young champion is bigger than the hype surrounding him.

Fans have joined experts and other pundits in forecasting the fight as a coin flip, or a 50/50 fight where each competitor has an equal chance to win. Some however are giving the edge to the younger fighter, one is Lamon Brewster, the former great American heavyweight champion.

He said to Boxing247: “Yes, I do believe that Joshua is going to stop Wladimir Klitschko. He is young, skilled, hungry, but at the same time, humble. To be honest, I really don’t see anyone beating Anthony Joshua, except, maybe, Deontay Wilder down the road.

“I don’t know if Joshua can [stop Klitschko early], but at the same time, I think he will. He has really impressed me with his skill and accuracy. Of course Wladimir has a lot of great experience, which could turn out to be a determining factor, but I must say, I see Joshua winning no matter what.”

Those are strong words from the last man to stop Dr. Steel Hammer back in April of 2004. The former king of the WBO retired from the sport with a 35-6 record after his vision was severely affected by his career.

He scored a TKO against the Russian fighter and thinks that Joshua has what it takes to get the job done on a bigger stage. Brewster once took him out and sees the chance for the British champion to do the same.

There have already been 80,000 tickets sold at the stadium and Eddie Hearn has requested an additional 5,000 tickets be made available. Those facts alone should tell you just how intensely the fans want this fight.

Fans will have to wait until a month from now to see the outcome, but there is no question that the young challenger is not afraid of the mammoth task in front of him.
