He may not be a household name, but after seeing the injury that's befallen him on Friday night you probably won't forget Sandro Wagner in a hurry.

The Brazilian forward is on the books of Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim, and he began trending on social media this evening. But he wasn't being talked about because of a goal or an outrageous piece of skill, but for a nasty looking injury he sustained.

Hoffenheim travelled to the German capital to take on Hertha Berlin and Wagner took a nasty looking knock after colliding with the home side's Vevad Ibisivic after just 14 minutes.

And the result was a severely dislocated finger that was bent in a way a finger just shouldn't bend. It looked horrific, and if you're eating you might want to exercise discretion before scrolling down...

Most players would have come off, but not Wagner, who is clearly hard as nails, as he remained on the pitch having had the finger ‘repaired’ by the club physio.

Fair play to him, that's some injury to have and carry on playing, most men would have gone off to put it on ice. And they say footballers are soft!

The meeting between the two sides could have huge implications in the race for European football next season. Before kick off Hoffenheim occupied fourth place and were level on points with Borussia Dortmund.

Hertha were fifth, with just five points separating the two teams, while only nine points divided the teams between fifth and second.

With a place in the Champions League or the Europa League at stake, it was a crucial clash.

Hoffenheim managed to put some more daylight between the two sides, though, recording a 3-1 victory against their hosts and could now look forward to taking part in the Champions League for the first time in their history next term.
