Captain keen to feature

Hartlepool have received some mixed news on the injury front as they prepare for their final game of the season at Bristol Rovers.

Skipper Michael Nelson is confident he will have recovered sufficiently from a head knock to feature, but striker Joel Porter is expected to be ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Nelson told the club's official website: "I really want to play in this game because we all know how important it is."

He added: "I've still got stitches in now and having spoken to the doctor his suggestion would be to leave them in until after the game.

"Hopefully I'll be given the all-clear and I can play my part in making sure we keep our place in the division."

Pools are still not mathematically safe from relegation and are one of four teams who could still go down if results go against them on Saturday.
