It's been a few months now since Manny Pacquaio last laced them up and took on an opponent in the ring, and for the 38-year-old, some may have begun to wonder whether or not he was close to hanging it up for good. After the rumors of a potential fight with Amir Kahn fell through, it was unknown exactly when something would come about.

Pacquiao's last fight was against Jessie Vargas on November 5, 2016, and resulted in a unanimous decision victory for the boxer who has a record of 59-6-2 in his career. He's now gone 5-1 in his last six bouts, with the only loss coming in a welterweight title fight against the infamous Floyd Mayweather Jr..

Now, it looks as though Pacquiao could be back in the ring sooner than later, assuming this next potential fight doesn't fall through as well. As Boxing Scene reported, Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz is in discussions to finalize a deal for a potential fight with undefeated Australian Jeff Horn. But, apparently, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum is putting a timeline on making the deal happen.

Arum apparently opted to give Pacquiao until the end of this week to sign the contract to fight Horn in Australian. As you can imagine, Koncz didn't have very much interested in timelines and isn't concerned about the pressure that Arum is attempting to put on his client.

“When we believe the terms and conditions of an agreement are in Manny’s best interest then we will sign - simple as that,” Koncz, told Philippine Star. “We are not very worried about any deadline.”

The fight was originally expected to happen on April 23, but was then pushed back to May 20. Regardless, Pacquiao, who did indeed retire for a short period last year before coming back to fight Vargas, is certainly looking to get back into the mix it seems.

The question is, will it be against an undefeated opponent in Horn? And will we get to see the same Pacquiao we saw against Vargas, and in the recent fights previous to that? It's hard to argue that the star fighter doesn't have plenty left in the tank, but there's still a lot that needs to be hashed out before we get to see him box again it seems.

Time will tell, but keep your fingers crossed that the two sides can make this happen and get the deal signed and the fight on the books.
