Many names have been linked with replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in recent weeks.Bournemouth's Eddie Howe is one of them, with the 39-year-old's possession-based philosophies in keeping with Arsenal's style of play.Thomas Tuchel of Borussia Dortmund is another, while Juventus' Massimiliano Allegri is also a reported candidate to succeed Wenger at the Emirates Stadium. And then there's Leonardo Jardim, who has done a superb job at Monaco this season by guiding Les Monegasques to the top of Ligue 1.In truth, there isn't much chance of Wenger leaving any time soon. Arsenal's board trust the Frenchman, and he too loves the club too much to say goodbye. But that's not what fans want. Amidst yet another mediocre season that will probably end trophyless, Arsenal supporters are desperate for change. It must be said that bringing in a new manager would represent a huge risk - just look at how Manchester United have struggled ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.However, in Paul Merson's opinion, it's time for Wenger to say goodbye. And he believes he has the solution. Believe it or not, Merson suggested on Gillette Soccer Saturday that Burnley's Sean Dyche could be a worthy successor.Just to reiterate, Sean Dyche to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager. Right. In response to Jeff Stelling naming the 45-year-old as a potential candidate, Merson said: "Why not? Why not? I tell you what, he would go in and liven it up."Regardless of whether Dyche would "liven it up" at Arsenal, it's patently clear the Burnley boss isn't the calibre of manager Arsenal are searching for.As you can imagine, Arsenal fans were left stunned by Merson's comments and mocked the much-maligned pundit on Twitter (see below).

Merson's latest comments are in stark contrast to a claim he made last month, when he tipped Ronald Koeman or Luis Enrique to replace Wenger.

"Arsene Wenger will be at Paris St-Germain next season - and Arsenal should get Ronald Koeman or Luis Enrique to replace him," he wrote for the Daily Star.

"Arsenal need someone who is going to come in and sort it out. The players are just picking up their money on the merry-go-round.

"Arsenal need someone much more ruthless. Someone like Koeman. He's got a mean streak and he doesn't let his players get away with anything.

"I think he'd be a good fit and would take the job if they offered it to him. If not, they should get on the phone to Luis Enrique. He's managed a world-class team full of world-class players.

"Straight away that brings respect. Something has to change because these players are doing my head in. It's like they don't care."
