First met second in the Portuguese Primeira Liga on Saturday evening as champions Benfica welcomed rivals Porto to the Estadio de Luz.

The leaders created more chances but the match finished 1-1, with Jonas' seventh-minute penalty getting cancelled out by Maxi Pereira's equaliser four minutes after the interval.

The result means Porto remain just a point behind Benfica in second place, but they have one man to thank for their share of the spoils.

Casillas rolls back the years

Iker Casillas was actually linked with a move away from Porto in the January transfer window, however he was in excellent form last night.

The ex-Real Madrid captain produced a string of outstanding saves to preserve his team's point, most notably from Kostas Mitroglou midway through the second half.

Benfica had put together some very good approach play, and the goal seemed to be gaping for Mitroglou to give the hosts a 2-1 lead, but as you can see below, Casillas scampered across his goal to make a vital save:

While the Greece international forward didn't strike the ball as cleanly as he would have liked, the veteran goalkeeper showed good speed as well as sharp reflexes to cover the ground and push the effort away with a strong right hand.

Remarkable double save

Casillas also pulled off a sublime double save following a free-kick which, as you can see further down the page, left many of Benfica's players in sheer disbelief.

The Spanish World Cup winner denied Mitroglou once again, but this time from no more than nine yards out, before brilliantly spreading himself to save Jonas' shot from even closer range.

The 35-year-old was unable to register what would've been a 17th clean sheet in the league this season, but it certainly was a wonderful performance which keeps Porto in the title race with seven games to go.
