Oh, the perils of April Fool's Day.The internet has been awash with 'fake news' this weekend, not of the Donald Trump variety, but of joke stories hoping to trick fans into a reaction.A personal favourite was Goal's claim that Wayne Rooney was quitting Manchester United to become a WWE wrestler. Absolute gold. It's rare that you'll find players themselves getting in on the act, though, but that's exactly what we were treated to by John Arne Riise. The former Liverpool left-back was in Malaysia for what initially seemed like a fairly innocuous interview with a young reporter. However, it quickly became very awkward indeed when she introduced him as a Manchester United legend - and one "with a killer right foot" at that. The Norweigan was also quizzed as to why he had so many awful tattoos and whether he'd deliberately scored an own goal in the Champions League.

Man United legend?!

Just when it couldn't get any more awkward, the interviewer then proceeded to ask him about Craig Bellamy. Oh dear.

Yet, like a true sportsman, Riise took it all brilliantly. Check out the hilarious clip below, brought to our attention by 101GreatGoals:

For those who don't remember why Bellamy is such a touchy subject, the Welshman was once involved in a notorious bust-up with Riise ahead of a Champions League game against Barcelona.

It's been ten years since the incident happened, but Bellamy still hasn't quite lived down his decision to attack his then team-mate with a golf club after a row about karaoke.

The spat may have riled Riise at the time, but on this occasion, it seems his anger was put on. After several Malaysian fans tweeted him to apologise for the interviewer's silly questions, the Anfield hero insisted it was all a prank and that he was in on the act.

For a moment it looked like he was genuinely angry - he could have fooled us.
