If you didn't already know, WWE have re-signed Drew McIntyre. No, they aren't reuniting the three-man band, well, not for now at least, as the former Intercontinental Champion will be spending some time on the developmental show NXT.McIntyre had front row seats for NXTTakeOver: Orlando last night, and despite his struggles on the main roster during his initial spell with the company, he received quite a warm reception from the passionate NXT fans. After he was spotted in the front row and then broadcasted onto the titantron, those in attendance let their voices be heard as they cheered the Scotsman, who only left the company a couple of years ago after being released. As already mentioned, McIntyre never truly got over with the WWE Universe during his first spell with the company, and after struggling to make any real impact on the main roster, he was put alongside Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater, forming 3MB.However, McIntyre was released, as was Mahal, and the infamous stable was no more, leaving Slater to fight his own battles - until Rhyno found himself partnering with him on SmackDown LIVE.After being released in 2014, McIntyre did what so many released superstars from WWE do. He travelled the independent circuit and found some success. He then joined TNA in 2015, but announced his departure from the company earlier this year, as financial problems continue to hinder the organisation.During his first spell with WWE, McIntyre managed to win two championships. The Intercontinental Championship and the Tag Team Championship, which he won alongside Cody Rhodes.

However, poor booking and a failure to get over with the crowd saw him become a bit-part talent on the main roster, which ultimately led to his departure.

With WWE, though, you can never rule out a return, and it looks like McIntyre is set for another crack of the whip, but this time around, he's going to work his way up from NXT and hopefully to the main roster in the near future.

As it was only announced earlier today, it's not yet known what the plans are for McIntyre, but there's a very clever reason behind his re-signing.

Considering he was never a big attraction during his initial spell, it may come as a surprise to some as to why WWE have decided to re-sign the Scottish wrestler.

However, according to Dave Meltzer, the reason behind the decision is the fact McIntyre is a big name in the United Kingdom, and he's expected to do some work for the UK brand.

Meltzer noted that the decision was very much last minute, but it was done in order to help the brand, especially given the fact Shinsuke Nakamua will be debuting on the main roster in the next few weeks.

WWE officials believe McIntyre will be a good asset to the brand and will help attract even more interest to the ever-growing product, especially from the United Kingdom.
