Billy Davies has paid tribute to club captain Ian Breckin as he prepares for his final match for Nottingham Forest, at home to Southampton on Sunday.
Manager Davies admitted he could not promise the veteran defender that he would be a Forest regular in the future, so the former Wigan man will be leaving at the end of the season.
"He has been a fantastic servant for this club, he has been a joy to work with," Davies told the Nottingham Evening Post. "He has been left out of the squad at times but has taken it like a true professional.
"I had a good conversation with him, because he has too much to offer to just play 10 or 12 games a season for us in the future. And he has to be playing regular football at 33 years old though and we wish him well.
"I am sure he will contribute a great deal to another club. He has done everything I could ask of him on and off the pitch, he has been a top pro. We want to give him the send off he deserves."
