Luke Shaw's future at Manchester United has never been more uncertain.

A summer departure is starting to look more and more likely for the 21-year-old after Jose Mourinho slammed him for showing a lack of commitment, ambition and focus on the weekend.

His last appearance for Manchester United came during the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth last month and he's since been forced to watch on from the bench or from the stands.

And Mourinho appears to have finally lost his patience. Speaking after Saturday's stalemate with West Brom, the Portuguese tore into Shaw.

"It's difficult for him to be on the bench. Why? Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with [Matteo] Darmian, with [Daley] Blind," he said.

"I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind."

Mourinho was then asked whether Shaw, as an England international, should be offering more, to which he replied: "Joe Hart is an English international and is playing on loan in Italy."

Time appears to be running out for Shaw, with Mourinho unlikely to recall him into United's squad unless he dramatically changes his attitude.

And it would appear Mourinho has made his feeling very clear to the England left-back - without even saying a word to him.

According to the Times, United's manager has been giving Shaw the silent treatment ever since the Bournemouth draw - they haven't spoken in almost a month.

The report states that Mourinho was angry with Shaw for speaking to Bournemouth's players during the half-time interval.

Simply put, Shaw's attitude needs to change, and Gary Neville hopes the former Southampton starlet realises that if he wants to stay at United, he needs to work harder.

"The harshest possible comments you can possibly have levelled at you are that you don't train hard enough - and Jose has levelled that at Luke," he said.

"I worked with Luke for two or three years with England, and this is a sensational talent who's got many years ahead of him.

"He's had major injury problems, which I think has been his biggest problem - the idea of being out quite a lot.

"But he's got to respond, this is it now. He's at Manchester United - you've got to make it work, you don't want to leave that club.

"Ultimately, it's how Luke Shaw takes those words on. Does he think, 'That's it, that's the end of me'? Or does he think, 'I'll show you' – and I hope it's the latter."
