Reading manager Steve Coppell has called for his star names to shine and send the Royals into the Premier League by winning the play-offs.

Coppell's side looked certain to win promotion for most of the season as they scored goals for fun, but the likes of Stephen Hunt and Kevin Doyle have been in poor form over the last third of the season as they fell away to finish fourth.

Coppell told the club's official website: "Now is the time for our quality players to step up and play well."

He added: "We need them to go out there and play well in pressured circumstances and give their absolute best.

"That doesn't just mean to give their best effort, it means their best in terms of ability and performance. Those factors combined are going to be massive for us."
