QPR defender Zesh Rehman will attend the National Asians in Football Forum on Monday at Eastlands.
Rehman, the first British Asian to play in the Premier League, is among the guests at Manchester City's stadium where topics such as under-representation at professional level will be discussed.
"The Asian community has suffered from a host of myths concerning its aspiring footballers including a belief that they like cricket more than football and that they are not strong enough to compete in the professional game," said Rehman, who has been on loan at Bradford.
"Other supposed factors, such as Asian kids being scared of the weather or having the wrong diet, just serve to perpetuate a stereotype that isn't accurate.
"The more people hear them the more they jump on the bandwagon. It's creating another hurdle that just shouldn't be there."
