Kurt Angle made his triumphant return to the WWE Universe in a week-stretch that included him being named the new general manager of RAW. The celebration of Angle's career, which featured a memorable Hall of Fame induction, culminated with Kurt walking down the RAW ramp following the GM announcement from Vince McMahon. The big question on everyone's mind is whether Angle will step into the ring not as a GM, but as a wrestler once again. It sounds like a return to in-ring action is absolutely on the table, and fans should be thrilled to hear the latest piece of information viz Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline. Meltzer was answering fan questions, as he typically does, and was asked whether the WWE plans on doing more with Angle than making him GM. His response will make Angle fans thrilled. It's true, it's true:

Whether Angle can pass medical testing is the first step, and it's something Angle himself alluded to during the media rounds he made leading into the Hall of Fame ceremony. He said he would love to step into the ring again, but noted he would have to clear tests.

The WWE has taken a very hard line on the safety of their performers, most notably barring Daniel Bryan from competing due to multiple head injuries and concussions. There's no guarantee Angle can make that clearance.

Angle's wrestled through injuries and suffered several throughout his career, but most notably won an Olympic gold medal with a broken freakin' neck. Injuries, and how he abused painkillers to cope with them, were one of the reasons he and the WWE split a decade ago.

This could be a huge boon for the WWE, as not only do they have a fresh face as GM that fans are thrilled to have back on their television sets, he has the versatility to compete at a very high level as a wrestler.

This gives the creative team flexibility to take his character several angles, and could set up some huge showdowns in the future. Angle had been working the independent scene prior to his WWE return.

Taking an anything is possible approach, he could have a showdown with Triple H over authority, work any number of angles with current talent — what about AJ Styles eventually if he ends up on RAW in the Superstar Shakeup — and just be involved from a physical standpoint.

That's something that Foley, with his advanced age and health issues, couldn't do as an on-screen performer. Imagine Kurt laying an Angle Slam down on one of the RAW Superstars that crosses the line?

Fingers crossed he can clear any and all medical testing. Watching him in the ring, even on a limited basis, would make his return even greater. Oh It's true, it's damn true.
