Someone else may claim the NBA title in 2017, but this year has still been an amazing success for Dirk Nowitzki. The forward recently joined the elite club of players who have scored 30,000 points over the course of their NBA careers.

He joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players to reach that mark after notching 25 points and 11 rebounds during a 122-111 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this season.

After achieving that feat, many NBA stars and former legends flocked to social media to show the sweet-shooting big man some much deserved love. Dirk probably hasn’t felt so appreciated since defeating the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals back in 2011.

Dallas isn’t going to make the playoffs this year, but showed great effort in rebounding from a dismal 2-10 start to the season. Now, Harrison Barnes looks like the max-level player promised in the offseason and Nowitzki will be back for another campaign next year.

Last night during a 102-89 loss to the Spurs, Dirk had another moment to add to his personal scrapbook as a fan was trying to win a brand new television as part of an arena promotion.

Courtney Novak stepped up to the challenge in a t-shirt with the German-born forward’s face on it.

The entire arena got in on the act as she tried to make all of her shots including a half-court heave that went cleanly through the net to win her a brand new 4K model television set. Mavericks players were watching intently and celebrated like they had won themselves.

Dirk ran over and hugged her as she shared the moment in front of a packed crowd in Dallas. Novak even managed to snag a postgame interview, which is an honor that most fans will never be able to accomplish.

Seeing your favourite player in person is an exciting occasion and many never have the opportunity to do so, but this lucky fan got to not only meet Nowitzki, she also got to take home a brand now television to watch her team on.

Next year that TV will be tuned to whatever Dirk and company are doing that season. Hopefully, the Mavs will be better next year and she can see number 41 take on some new challenges in the playoffs.

The best case scenario is that her long range accuracy proves contagious for the entire roster.
