One of the biggest and bravest decisions WWE made last year saw Finn Balor pick up a clean victory over Roman Reigns.

This came right after the brand extension came into full effect, and as Dean Ambrose was drafted by SmackDown LIVE along with his WWE Championship, Stephanie McMahon had to create a new championship for RAW, and find new contenders for it.

BALOR COMMENTS

With Seth Rollins already in the SummerSlam title match, it came as a shock to see the newly-debuted Balor defeat The Big Dog and then go on to claim the Universal title by defeating Rollins shortly after.

While most of the fans loved it, some people didn’t and they made the world well aware of it.

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was someone who wasn’t too keen on the idea, as he shortly claimed that Reigns should have won, but it was the comments he made later which could have impacted a lot more than his own reputation.

He boldly claimed on his podcast that The Demon King would never main event a WrestleMania because of his size, and as expected, that rubbed a lot of fans the wrong away as they believe Balor is talented enough to do that and his size shouldn’t be a reason for him not to be in that position.

Just look at Daniel Bryan.

However, it’s not just fans that were annoyed by this as it’s been claimed by numerous sources that he received a lot of heat from WWE officials for making that statement about a star they value highly.

That heat seems to have taken its toll as he decided to end his podcast on MLW, but there’s another reason why he decided to do that.

KEEPING CHARLOTTE OUT OF DANGER

The Nature Boy was relatively outspoken on his podcast, and his decision to end the show was so his daughter – Charlotte Flair – isn’t affected by any comments he makes.

Despite not appearing alongside him anymore, there’s no denying that the Flair name adds more pressure on her as she’s expected to impress, and she rarely fails when she’s in that ring and is currently one of the best stars in WWE today – if not the best.

It’s a bold move from Flair, but you can understand why he’d do that to avoid jeopardising Charlotte’s career, as it would be a shame if his opinions resulted in WWE taking it out on somebody close to him, or risk that happening as it’s not a guarantee that the company would have stooped that low.

Better safe than sorry, though.
