Barcelona’s surprise 2-0 defeat away to Malaga on Saturday evening means Real Madrid, who have a game in hand over their fierce domestic rivals, are now firm favourites to finish the season as La Liga champions.

Luis Enrique’s side produced an underwhelming display at La Rosaleda, with goals either side of half-time from Sandro Ramirez and Jony condemning the Catalan giants to their fourth league defeat of the season.

The result is obviously huge for Los Blancos, who were denied victory in the Madrid derby earlier on Saturday when Antoine Griezmann popped up with an 85th-minute equaliser at the Bernabeu.

One Madrid player who was even happier than most with the result in Andalusia was Isco.

The Spanish playmaker, who played 14 minutes against Atletico and has been linked with a shock move to the Camp Nou, couldn’t resist sending his former employers a message on Twitter.

Isco sends tweet to Malaga

Minutes after the final whistle had been blown at La Rosaleda, Isco tweeted: "Malaga showed balls! Congratulations.”

And, with that short message, Twitter erupted.

Barcelona fans were furious - obviously - while Real Madrid supporters were loving that one of their players was effectively rubbing salt in their rivals’ wounds.

Isco's way of saying he doesn't want to join Barcelona?

Perhaps this was also Isco’s way of reassuring Madrid fans that he doesn’t plan on leaving the Bernabeu for the Camp Nou.

The Spanish pass revealed back in 2013 that Isco was a life-long Barcelona fan with a dog named ‘Messi’ after the Barça icon.

And earlier this week, Isco was forced to edit an image which showed, quite comically, that he was eating Barcelona crisps during a lunch with friends.
