Kevin Durant made his highly anticipated return to the court for the Golden State Warriors last night after suffering a knee injury in Washington in February. The superstar was diagnosed with an MCL sprain and had to sit out just over a month as the Warriors battled to secure the best record in the league. In his absence, the Dubs managed to reel off 13 straight wins and they easily made it 14 as KD took to the floor against the New Orleans Pelicans last night. In his first game back, the 2014 MVP posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in a 123-101 blow out of the Pelicans. Despite the welcome return of Durant, the Warriors were unable to play their quartet of All-Stars together as point guard Stephen Curry missed the game with a knee contusion. As he was not suiting up to play, the back-to-back MVP decided to find other ways to keep himself busy before tip-off. With television cameras fixed on Durant as he made his way down the tunnel, Steph was seen playing a photographer as he hilariously captured his teammate's comeback.

This would've been even better had Curry donned an orange photographer's vest à la Russell Westbrook. That may have been a troll job too far for the superstar that would certainly have sent social media into a frenzy.

It didn't take long for KD to get to matters on the court, though, as he started the game with the opening points on an emphatic dunk to show that he has no ill-effects from the knee injury.

“You get a dunk the first play of the game, no matter how long you been out, that feels good,” Durant said. “And to get some stops and to get an assist, that felt great.

“It felt normal again. I’m a basketball player. I love playing basketball; that’s my favorite thing to do. So to feel like I’m part of the team, to feel like I’m a part of this energy that we have, it feels great.”

With an impressive winning streak to end the campaign, the Bay Area franchise is looking formidable heading into the playoffs and will be the overwhelming favourites to win another championship

Head coach Steve Kerr should be able to call on his full lineup on Monday as they take on the Utah Jazz in their penultimate regular season game. The Warriors then wrap up the year on Wednesday when they host Luke Walton and the Los Angeles Lakers before the postseason kicks off next weekend.
