It’s pretty rare these days to see a player celebrate after scoring a goal against his former club. The ‘muted’ celebration seems to divide football supporters. Some believe it’s a load of nonsense and that players should celebrate passionately, while others feel it’s respectful. One player who certainly enjoyed scoring against his former employers this weekend was Malaga’s Sandro Ramirez, who broke the deadlock against Barcelona at La Rosaleda on Saturday night.Sandro made 32 appearances for Barça during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 campaigns but was offloaded to Malaga last summer. The intense competition for first-team places at the Camp Nou ultimately cost Sandro his dream of making it at Barcelona, although his move to Malaga has worked out nicely for him.

Sandro's celebration v Barcelona

The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals in 23 appearances for the Andalusian outfit. His goal against Barcelona was his ninth in La Liga this term.

He celebrated enthusiastically after netting against Luis Enrique’s side, although it’s hard to agree with the Catalan newspaper Sport when they describe his celebrations as “wild”.

Suarez had words with Sandro at half-time

Nevertheless, Sandro’s celebration obviously irritated Luis Suarez because the Barcelona forward had words with his former teammate as they walked towards the tunnel at half-time.

Suarez was spotted saying something in the Canadian player’s ear - and Sport have now revealed what the Uruguayan said.

According to Sandro, Suarez told him: “Never forget who fed you.”

This was clearly a message from Suarez that, in his opinion, Sandro had overstepped the mark with his celebration and should have been more respectful to his former club.

Sandro: I ask for forgiveness

The youngster responded after the match by telling reporters it wasn’t his intention to upset anyone associated with Barcelona.

“I ask forgiveness if this has happened,” he said in the mixed zone. “I ask forgiveness, not to Barcelona’s fans but the people at La Masia, who have given me everything.”

Sandro didn't need to apologise

In truth, Sandro didn’t do anything wrong and shouldn’t have felt the need to apologise.

Yes, Barcelona gave him the opportunity to learn his trade, but he’s a Malaga player now - so why shouldn’t he celebrate scoring against one of the best teams in the world?

Barça’s 2-0 defeat at La Rosaleda leaves their La Liga title hopes hanging by a thread.

Defeat in the Clasico on April 23 and Real Madrid will surely win their first league title since 2012.
