Leicester's players appear to have given up on pretending they hadn't fallen out with Claudio Ranieri. The Italian was a victim of the cruel, unforgiving phenomenon of player power when he was sacked by the Foxes in February. The former Chelsea boss may have given them the greatest moment of their careers, but senior players quickly forgot about that when things weren't going so well. Leicester were undoubtedly in a relegation scrap at the point of Ranieri's departure. That's not to say he wouldn't have turned it around, but it was clear that he had lost the dressing room. Danny Simpson has now given an insight into the mood in the camp in an interview with The Times, quoted by the Independent. The full-back seems irrationally angry about chicken and potato wedges, or more specifically, the lack of them around the training ground. Eating healthily is a small sacrifice, you might think, for professionals being paid tens of thousands of pounds a week.

Simpson is still traumatised

With some prima donna footballers, however, no-one is going to tell them what to eat, even if it's likely to improve their performances.

“After games, we would have chicken burgers and potato wedges and he then changed them to sweet potatoes and pasta,” Simpson explained.

“I understand his point but the lads liked what we were used to, chicken and wedges.”

Doesn't it just break your heart? Well, not if you're any of these fans on Twitter, who were not sympathetic.

Leicester's critics - of whom there were many after the saga - might add that the players weren't earning the right to eat what they like, as they were consistently letting the manager down.

Last season, they were famously rewarded with pizzas whenever they kept a clean sheet, and it's hard to blame Ranieri for trying to come up with alternative ways to arrest their slide down the table.

Luckily, he will have the chance to reply when he makes an appearance on the Monday Night football clash between Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

Have Leicester's players been forgiven for their treatment of Ranieri yet? Have your say in the comments.
