Being a part of Sky Sports' pitchside coverage of a Premier League game would be a dream come true for most football fans. The lucky presenters, who are usually the likes of Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher, and Graeme Souness, get to stand close to the action as teams warm up for big games. However, it doesn't always go perfectly, as Phil Neville found out on Sunday afternoon. The former footballer was part of Sky's coverage ahead of Everton and Leicester City's clash at Goodison Park. Neville played 303 times in all competitions for the Toffees between 2005 and 2013, so he should be no stranger to how things work at his former home ground. But there was one thing he forgot about after spending four years away from Goodison, and that was the fact that the pitch is watered by sprinklers ahead of the match. As the boys were offering their thoughts ahead of another crunch fixture in the Premier League, Neville was standing with his back to the pitch, and couldn't see the water beginning to spray ever closer to him.Redknapp, who was standing alongside the former Everton and Manchester United defender, did see what was about to happen and braced himself for the inevitable. Poor Phil though wasn't as lucky. He caught most of the spray and looked absolutely traumatised by the whole incident. It also left Redknapp giggling like a child next to him live on air. You can see the moment that it happened in a video below.
Neville was known throughout his career for being a tough-tackling full-back who wouldn't back down to anyone, so the fact that he's startled by water is even more entertaining.
One thing's for certain though, he will have to think about where he's going to stand next time he's invited to be a part of Sky's pitchside coverage.
