It may be mid-April, but over in the United States, there is still a lot of snow falling. An MLS game between Real Salt Lake and the Vancouver Whitecaps was played during a blizzard on Saturday, with the home side winning 3-0 in Utah.   It wasn't exactly great viewing, but those on the pitch must be respected for carrying on and playing in frozen temperatures, and the referee should be praised for letting the game even kick off.    A win for Real Salt Lake ensured they moved off the bottom of the MLS Western Conference, leapfrogging the Colorado Rapids, the Whitecaps and Minnesota United, who now sit at the foot of the table in their first MLS season.Arguably, the best moment of Saturday's game didn't actually have anything to do with football.    After Vancouver defender Tim Parker marshalled the ball away from Salt Lake midfielder Luis Silva and out of his box, Silva slipped in the snow and hit the deck.As Parker moved away unchallenged, Silva picked up a ball of snow and launched it, hitting his opponent on the back.    It was a great shot, and Parker took the whole incident well as he shook off the snow and carried on with the game. A video of the moment can be found below.

At the other end of the table, the Portland Timbers currently sit at the top of the Western Conference. They've picked up 13 points from their opening six games. FC Dallas are in second place with 10 points and could overtake Portland because they have two games in hand.

In the Eastern Conference, the Columbus Crew are currently top, with Atlanta United in second. Kaka's Orlando City are in ninth, with two wins from three games.

The current MLS Cup holders, Seattle Sounders, are struggling in the Western Conference. But they've only played five games, so have plenty of time to ensure they can defend their trophy following the conclusion of the regular season.
