Sergio Garcia has finally ended his long wait for that first ever major title with victory at the Masters on Sunday evening.Midway through day four it appeared the Spaniard, on his 74th attempt to win a major, was in the process of an epic capitulation.England’s Justin Rose tied level with his European Ryder Cup teammate but Garcia recovered and their epic battle eventually went into a sudden-death play-off on the 18th.Rose could only manage a bogey, meaning Garcia’s superb birdie putt was enough to secure a memorable victory at Augusta.The tributes poured in for the popular 37-year-old, who becomes the third Spaniard to win the Masters after Seve Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olazabal."To join Seve and Jose - my two idols - is amazing," Garcia was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

Coincidentally, Sunday would have been the 60th birthday of the great Ballesteros, who died back in 2011.
