On his day, Mesut Ozil is one of the best playmakers in world football.Unfortunately for Arsenal, the German hasn’t had ‘his day’ for a number of months now.The former Real Madrid star has gone missing in many matches this season as the Gunners have slipped to sixth in the Premier League. After their 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday night, it seems they will be without Champions League football next season. While no Arsenal player could be satisfied with their performance against Palace, it seems Gooners were particularly unhappy with Ozil’s display. The midfielder is demanding a new contract worth around £300,000-per-week with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season. However, it seems that some Gooners wouldn’t mind seeing him leave the club this summer, rather than sign a new deal. That much can be seen with the way a handful of Arsenal supporters reacted to Ozil as he boarded the team coach after the match. As Ozil left the ground, he was bombarded with abuse from angry Arsenal fans with one fan being heard shouting ‘Not good enough, Mesut' as well as plenty of expletives.

Arsenal fans abuse Ozil

Take a look:

It was certainly a tough night for Ozil and co. and they were brushed aside by Sam Allardyce’s Palace.

The 28-year-old was anonymous throughout the 90 minutes, with his side now seven points adrift of Manchester City in fourth - although they do have a game in hand.

While selling your best players is never a good idea, Arsenal fans are insisting that Ozil needs to start working harder or, simply, leave.

Carragher on Ozil and Sanchez

One man that certainly wasn’t impressed with his - or Alexis Sanchez’s performance - against Palace was Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher.

"The contracts with Sanchez and Ozil – they’ve been nothing short of embarrassing since the contract talks started," he said.

"Their performances since the talks started have been embarrassing.

"They’ve been nowhere near good enough for Arsenal."
