One of the biggest issues fans have had with Seth Rollins over the past two years is the fact that he hasn’t been able to find a finishing move that he can make his own.

His Curb Stomp was arguably one of the best when he performed it, and the likes of Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar sold it wonderfully – and that’s the move he also used to capture his first-ever WWE Championship at WrestleMania 31.

NEW FINISHER

However, WWE decided to scrap the finisher with numerous reasons popping up, such as their younger audience being easily influenced by it while WWE’s lawsuit regarding concussions could have also been a valid reason.

Since then, he’s been using Triple H’s Pedigree, and that made complete sense when the two were aligned.

However, since The Game turned his back on The Architect, is was thought that Rollins would slowly phase out the finishing move, and perhaps debut something epic at WrestleMania 33 to finally slay The King.

Instead, he used a Pedigree again.

Fans have their suggestions on what he should use, with the Phoenix Splash being a popular choice considering that top-rope manoeuvre just screams out ‘baby face’, but Rollins might have just shown fans a glimpse of what his new finishing move could be.

Rollins was in action in a dark match on Monday Night RAW this week, teaming up with Chris Jericho to take on Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe, and a fan in attendance recorded the entire thing – including the surprising finish.

THE KINGSLAYER?

If you skip to the eight-minute mark in the video below, you’ll be able to see Rollins execute the move, and some of the fans didn’t expect that to be the finish.

It first looked as if Rollins was going to hit current United States Champion with a Rainmaker, but instead of turning him around into a lariat, he executed a jumping knee instead to knock Owens out – and it does look pretty impressive.

Fans online have been quick to point out that it starts similarly to how NJPW’s Kazuchika Okada sets up his brilliant Rainmaker finishing move, and maybe Rollins was inspired a little by him considering his match with Kenny Omega earlier this year had rave reviews, and Rollins also praised them both.

While it doesn’t look as dangerous as the Curb Stomp, it’s probably something fans can get behind as he finally moves away from the Pedigree.

It would have been incredible, though, if he debuted this at WrestleMania too, and giving it the name ‘Kingslayer’ would have been a nice little touch.
