Leaving Smackdown without a singles title for 24 hours - apart from the WWE Championship, Ambrose arrived on RAW in a very typical fashion.

Smackdown would however correct the situation as the first RAW superstar announced as a part of Smackdown was United States Champion Kevin Owens.

Owens would make his Smackdown Live debut on Tuesday night and would be followed by nine other superstars joining the show.

Owens' title would be the main subject however and several prominent names would emerge as possible contenders for Owens.

AJ Styles, Baron Corbin and the newly arrived Sami Zayn all threw their names in the hat for the chance to challenge Owens for the US title.

That would prompt Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan to the ring to make two huge announcements regarding the fate of the Championship.

Owens is currently set to defend the title against the former champion Chris Jericho at Payback in three weeks time.

Either way, the championship will be remaining on Smackdown meaning that even if Jericho wins, he will be joining Smackdown Live.

Therefore, a new #1 contender will be needed for the weeks following Payback as Smackdown will be hosting the next network special, Backlash in May.

Bryan would announce a triple threat match between Styles, Corbin and Zayn in order to crown a new number one contender.

A thrilling main event pulled in three different ways by three different superstars all vying for the chance to challenge for the US Championship.

Styles would eventually pull off the win after hitting Zayn with the Phenomenal forearm whilst Corbin had been removed from the ring.

Styles will move ahead as the number one contender for Smackdown's newest title and will now surely be watching the title match at Payback with a lot of interest.

An old friend or a clash of styles

Either way, Styles will be in for a great match for the United States Championship.

Current champion Kevin Owens is expected to retain the title at Payback meaning that he could collide in the ultimate clash of styles with the Phenomenal One.

Should an upset occur however, Styles will be pitted with his opponent from WrestleMania 32, Chris Jericho, someone he has already had many great matches with in WWE.
