In an almost identical result to February's 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona suffered another damaging first-leg defeat against Juventus on Tuesday night.

Goals from Paulo Dybala (2) and Giorgio Chiellini secured a 3-0 win for the Italian side and gave their opponents a mountain to climb - again.

Barca have been here before, of course, but there's a sense that beating Juventus at least 4-0 is too big an ask.

Luis Enrique's men were awful in Turin, with Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard pinpointing their weak squad as the reason behind the heavy loss.

"There's a lot of players there that you think to yourself they couldn't have got in the Barcelona team three years ago - too many names to mention," said Ferdinand.

"There are five or six in this team who shouldn't even be putting on the shirt. The way that they played - the intensity, the quality.

"They're not on the same planet and these are the players who have really got to feed the front three and are not getting the ball to them quick enough.

"And defensively they don't look like they've got any individuals in there who want to defend. Collectively they're not doing it.

"This team don't press like the Barcelona team did under Pep Guardiola. These guys look like they don't have any idea or desire to want to press."

Enrique's frustrations were clear for all to see on the sidelines, with the Spaniard reacting angrily to Dybala's second goal.

And according to Marca, he took drastic measures today to whip Barcelona's players into shape.

Enrique held a 'tense' 30-minute team meeting before Wednesday's training session - but two players were missing.

For one reason or another, Lionel Messi and Neymar reportedly skipped the meeting and training session and stayed in the gym instead. Strange.

Messi's frail relationship with Enrique is well documented, with his absence from the meeting further reinforcing that notion.

Speaking after the game, Enrique took full responsibility for the defeat but insisted his side can repeat their heroics against PSG.

"I'm an optimistic person," he said, per the Mirror, "but I take responsibility for this. I'm the coach and the buck stops at me.

"If we play as well as we can, we can score four goals against anyone."
