This week’s most bizarre football-related story was, without question, the news Tony Adams had replaced Lucas Alcaraz as the head coach of La Liga strugglers Granada. It was news that came out of the blue. Even Adams himself wasn’t expecting it."I've been here five months - since November - and I didn't see this coming,” he revealed in his first press conference, per the Mirror. "I firstly want to thank Lucas, I've had a little bit of a relationship with him and he's a good man."We're going to fight for Granada and get three points, that's what it's about."I'm going to try a few things in training, liven up the team, shock the team, motivate the team and I'll do my best to achieve a miracle."

Granada look doomed

And Adams requires a miracle to keep Granada in the Spanish top flight.

Nineteenth in La Liga, seven points from safety and with seven matches left to play, it’s going to require a monumental effort from Adams and his players to stay in the division.

That they face both Sevilla and Real Madrid in their run-in makes their hopes of staying in La Liga even slimmer.

In an effort to bolster his squad, Adams has taken the unexpected step of handing trials to two Premier League veterans: Nigel Reo-Coker and Kieran Richardson.

Seriously.

This move has obviously been met with a large degree of scepticism on social media. Check out these tweets…

Reo-Coker, 32, is a free agent after leaving Montreal Impact last year while Richardson, who is the same age, last played for Cardiff City in 2016.

Jamie O'Hara's funny response on Twitter

This news caught the attention of former England Under-21 international Jamie O’Hara, who recently hit the headlines after signing for non-league Billericay Town.

The 30-year-old, who also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, last played in the Football League for Gillingham but voluntarily agreed to terminate his contract back in September due to his failure to recover from an ongoing injury.

Hearing the news about Reo-Coker and Richardson, O’Hara amused social media with the following tweet…

"Anyone got Tony Adams number 😩😂"

You never know Jamie, you probably stand half a chance with Adams in charge at Los Cármenes.

O'Hara scored a wonder goal at the weekend

The Arsenal legend might be tempted to offer the former Tottenham starlet a trial after he sees the goal he scored for Billericay at the weekend…

Pick that one out.
