The NBA regular season is officially over which means the 14 teams who missed the playoffs can now look ahead to the NBA Draft,

There are tantalizing talents at the top, like Lonzo Ball, Markelle Fultz, Josh Jackson, Malik Monk and a number of other top picks. That's without considering the typical risers whose stock is elevated during the combine and pre-draft workouts.

The odds are now in place. All that's left is for the NBA to hold its annual NBA Draft lottery, which will happen on May 16 this year, to decide which pick goes where. For some teams, it's make or break. For others, they're just hoping lottery luck shines down on them.

The team in the absolute best position is the Boston Celtics, which seems a bit crazy considering they're the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference heading into the playoffs. The Brooklyn Nets were crazy enough to trade their own unprotected first-round pick to Boston years ago.

Now, the Celtics are set to cash in. The Celtics have a 25 percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick, 46.5 percent chance to land in the top-two and are essentially guaranteed a top-five pick at minimum through Brooklyn.

The Phoenix Suns have the second best odds, riding a massive losing streak for most of the final portion of the season. They'll have a 19.9 percent chance at landing No. 1, 38.7 percent chance of sticking in the top-two, and 55.8 percent chance of their selection being top-three.

Next up is the Los Angeles Lakers, who have the most at stake here. Their 2017 first-round pick belongs to the Philadelphia 76ers, but they attached top-three protection to it. This means if it falls out of the top-three, the 76ers will take the pick and the Lakers are left empty-handed.

LA has a 15.6 percent chance of winning the No. 1 pick, 38.7 percent chance of it being a top-two pick and 46.9 percent chance of it remaining in the top-three. This is exactly why Lakers fans were panicking with each late-season win during their five-game winning streak.

Speaking of Philadelphia, they have the fourth-best odds going into lottery night. They're the last team with double-digit odds of being No. 1 (11.9%), with a 24.5 percent chance at a top-two pick, and 37.8 percent shot at a top-three pick.

Sixers fans are surely just as anxious as Lakers fans to see what happens at the lottery, where they could end up with two top-tier picks to add to Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Dario Saric.

From here, the odds diminish quite rapidly. The Orlando Magic rounds out the top-five of teams with the best odds. For an easy to follow look at draft odds, and a fun lottery simulator, head over to Tankathon.com to get the full rundown.

With some very talented players on the way, the lottery can change the fortunes of these struggling teams in an instant.
