It was the 14th May, 2011 and Manchester United were on the brink of winning a record-breaking 19th league title.

The Red Devils had travelled to Blackburn knowing that a point would be enough to ‘knock Liverpool off their perch’ and overtake their tally of 18 top-flight titles.

But, in the penultimate match of the season, that looked unlikely when Brett Emerton put the home side 1-0 up after 20 minutes.

However, Wayne Rooney’s 73rd-minute penalty saw United earn the point they needed to be crowned champions.

Usually, Ferguson enjoyed plenty of injury-time with his side becoming renowned for scoring plenty of late winners.

However, at Blackburn, you could see just how desperate he was for the final whistle to sound.

Unfortunately for him, his players on the bench didn’t share his anguish. Instead, they were getting excited at the prospect of winning a Premier League winners’ medal.

As Ferguson asks the fourth official how much longer he’s got to endure, the likes of Anderson and Fabio can be seen getting ready to celebrate.

And Patrice Evra had other ideas.

He decided he would act like a 12-year-old and stick two fingers behind his manager’s head like bunny rabbit ears.

With Ferguson getting more and more irate with the referee refusing to blow the final whistle, he certainly wouldn’t have seen the funny side of it.

The funniest thing was how quickly Evra backed away when Ferguson twitched, showing just how scary the manager could be. If only the Scot had turned around and caught him!

Evra's prank

Take a look:

After one last look at his watch, the ref finally blew his whistle - much to the delight of Ferguson and Evra.

Hilarious? Brave? Or stupid from Evra?

All of the above, we think.

To be fair to the Frenchman, he’s really upped his comedic values since that day at Ewood Park by becoming the King of Instagram.

The left back is often posting rather hilarious clips of him dancing, singing and just generally being a bit of a legend. If you’re not following him, you’re missing out.
