Kevin Durant has been a sight for sore eyes since returning to the lineup for the Golden State Warriors a week ago against the New Orleans Pelicans. KD looked like his old self in the the 123-101 win and that has fans salivating at what they could see during the playoffs.

Golden State will take on the Portland Trail Blazers in round one of the Western Conference Playoffs on Sunday afternoon. The series will present a bit of a rematch of last year’s semi-final where Portland bowed out in five games.

Unfortunately for the Blazers, the Dubs didn’t have Durant last year and their prospects aren’t exactly looking great heading into Oracle Arena to face a red-hot team that just got a former MVP back into the lineup.

Ahead of game one, Durant was a guest on Tim Kawakami’s podcast and he discussed his experience during the first year of his career in Golden State. The Durantula also commented on his plans for free agency later this summer.

KD said: “I haven’t even thought about it that much but I don’t plan on going anywhere else. Obviously you want to keep this group together, you want to see how far we can go. I’m sure once the season is over with we can figure out that stuff, everybody, and I’m sure it will all work out for the best.”

Warriors executives and fans will be happy to hear that from their newest star. There isn’t really any reason for him to say anything otherwise. Other than his injury, the season has gone about as close to perfect as one could imagine.

They won 67 games which is only six games off their league record 73 wins last season. There were some concerns early on about fit between Stephen Curry and Durant, but the injury to the latter has led to more impressive outings from the reigning MVP.

Now as the team looks toward the playoffs, the only thing on the entire roster’s mind is getting back to the NBA Finals for the third straight time and slaying the demons of last season. Golden State has a long way to go before June, but the future looks bright right now.

Having four All-Stars will do that, as well as having the best record in the entire league with an arguably unguardable lineup. There are still games to be played though and only 16 wins will truly erase the bad taste left in their mouths from the previous Finals.
