UFC president Dana White caused quite a stir when he revealed that Georges St-Pierre would be making his long-awaited return to the UFC this year. Combat sports fans had been waiting for his next fight for some time and now it would be coming as soon as this summer.

The proposed bout will see current middleweight champion Michael Bisping take on the living legend in a match that would see two fighters with absolute star power on this roster meet in the octagon.

Controversially, St-Pierre will leapfrog a number of challengers that have been active this entire time to get his title shot. There is an argument to be made that his star-status alone makes this decision a no-brainer among the UFC brass though.

He dominated the welterweight division and is regarded as one of the best individual talents to ever step into the cage. He has wins over a number of notable fighters like Dan Hardy and Nick Diaz, to name a few.

After defeating Johny Hendricks in 2013, he shocked the mixed martial arts community by announcing his retirement and took some time off from the sport. Apparently, he has been keeping himself in tip-top shape if his social media is to be believed though.

An image of him training for that bout with Bisping surfaced on the internet recently and it would be safe to say that the Canadian-born fighter looks ready to roll. Being bigger might not be absolutely be better as there is no telling what he will look like in an actual match.

If he’s anything like what fans remember him as, then the champ could be in for a long night when they finally do clash. Bisping has also said that he believes that this fight is part of a larger scheme by GSP to further establish himself as one of the best fighters of all time.

This plot forwarded by the champ says he suspects that St-Pierre is trying to eventually fight Conor McGregor in a fight that would undoubtedly be the single largest one that the UFC had ever seen and possibly the biggest ever in the sport.

GSP will have to get by Bisping first in order to climb that ladder and toppling the current champion will be no small task. He’s looking more and more ready for it by the day though.
