The superstar shake-up has certainly left an impact with some big names switching brands, and it’s also resulted in some confusion regarding numerous feuds.

In particular, we have SmackDown LIVE’s Kevin Owens defending the United States Championship at Payback against Monday Night RAW’s Chris Jericho, with the winner bringing the gold to the blue brand.

HOUSE OF HORRORS

The biggest feud, however, is arguably the WWE Championship clash between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt, who was apparently a last-minute addition to the RAW roster earlier this week. Based on that move, it’s now clear that The Viper is going to retain the gold so he can keep it on Tuesday nights, opposite Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship on the red brand.

Attention then turns to what Orton could be doing after the RAW-exclusive Payback event as we head towards SmackDown’s first pay-per-view after WrestleMania – Backlash.

AJ Styles would probably be the logical choice, but fans will be upset to learn that it won’t be him as he was crowned the number one contender for Owens’ United States Championship, and that match is expected to take place at Backlash.

However, a couple of different reports have claimed that two names are in the running to challenge The Viper and while one could be an exciting matchup, fans won’t be too happy to learn who else could be a possible opponent.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first, as The Inquisitr is claiming that WWE could turn to Erick Rowan for a WWE Championship match. While it seems like an underwhelming prospect considering who else is on the roster, you can’t argue that it’s still a fantastic opportunity for Rowan to get a singles match for the biggest prize in WWE.

TWO POTENTIAL OPPONENTS

We saw on SmackDown this week that Rowan’s loyalties remain with Wyatt, even though he’s on a different show now and this could be the way WWE ends the feud once and for all – escaping Wyatt’s clutches and then finishing off Rowan.

However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has a completely different option, and it’s something fans could get behind.

While The Phenomenal One will be busy with The Prizefighter, Baron Corbin could step up to the plate and challenge Orton at Backlash.

They reported that it’s simply too early to insert Shinsuke Nakamura into the WWE title picture, and it’s why he looks to be feuding with Dolph Ziggler and with the plans unfolding as they are, The Lone Wolf looks to be the only genuine and realistic option WWE has.

That too is an exciting prospect, and a great test for Corbin to see how he can hang with the champion in a singles feud, plus we know officials are high on him so even if he loses, it probably won’t mean the end for his title hopes.
