It's been a rough old season for Sunderland - there's no getting around it.

Although they have flirted with relegation for numerous years now before pulling off a great escape, even if they had managed to keep the point they have at half-time against West Ham, they are still 10 points from safety.

Nothing has really gone right for David Moyes this term and his reputation continues to diminish since leaving Everton back in 2013 to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Things did not work out for the Scot at Old Trafford and a failed spell with Real Sociedad followed.

Then at the Stadium of Light, all Moyes seemed to want to do is bring in players he worked with at Manchester United and Everton, like Donald Love, Paddy McNair, Adnan Januzaj, Bryan Oviedo and Victor Anichebe among others.

One player he overlooked that arrived under the guidance of Sam Allardyce is Wahbi Khazri.

The Frenchman was inserted back into the side for his 16th appearance of the season against West Ham and made an instant impact.

As you can see from the video, Khazri, a dead ball specialist, scored directly from a corner, largely in thanks to the man mountain that is Victor Anichebe preventing 'keeper Darren Randolph getting near it.

One would have thought the Black Cats could have done with the set-piece specialist more this season, especially seeing as the side have struggled for goals recently.

The 26-year-old has a dangerous delivery and considering that Sunderland had gone seven successive games without scoring before his corner against West Ham, it asks more questions of Moyes for continuing to leave him out.

With only seven games left, time is running out for Sunderland to turn things around and it appears as though their luck in the top-flight has finally run out.

James Collins scored early in the second half at the Stadium of Light to give West Ham a 2-1 lead and at this time of writing, it leaves Sunderland looking dead and buried in their bid for survival.
