Stoke City supporters must have to remind themselves, every now and then, that they do in fact own Xherdan Shaqiri.

The ex-Bayern Munich and Inter Milan forward has never set the Premier League alight since his 2015 switch, but his quality is simply undeniable. As a result, any poor performances are quickly forgiven by the Potters.

One potential sense of annoyance from Mark Hughes, though, might prove Shaqiri’s lack of goals.

For all the stellar performances, skills and dribbling, the Swiss international is far from a consistent goal scorer. Across 48 games in English football, he only has seven goals to his name so far.

That being said, when Shaqiri does score, they’re usually something special.

The idea of a tap-in or a simple one-on-one finish appears nothing short of foreign to the winger. Long range screamers and, as shown at Euro 2016, bicycle kicks are usually the go-to finishes.

In the case of the former, this weekend has seen the same old magic from Shaqiri again and Hull City have been struck with a case of déjà vu.

Having already punished the Tigers with a long range effort in the reverse fixture in October, Shaqiri has out done himself in April.

Collecting the ball from Marco Arnautovic, the 25-year-old rejected a one-two and lined up a strike of his own from 30-yards. Hitting the sweet spot, Shaqiri sent the ball dipping and swerving violently into the far corner.

It was a miracle that the goal survived the incident unscathed and Eldin Jakupovic was able to muster a dive. The astonishing effort can be seen below:

What. A. Goal.

Furthermore, it sent Stoke towards three points and allowed them to rise to eleventh place in the table. Goals from Arnautovic and Peter Crouch earlier in the game had helped the Potters on to a 3-1 win.

There certainly won’t be any better goals this weekend and the Swiss star might just have wrapped up the Goal of the Month award. With that kind of skill in his locker, it can only be wondered why he can’t produce the goods more often.
