When the brand extension came into effect last year, not many would have thought that Braun Strowman would be someone that benefits greatly from it.

At the time, he had all the tools needed to be the next generic monster – something we’ve seen a lot over the years, but it seems as if breaking away from The Wyatt Family did more good than bad, thankfully.

SUCCESS ON RAW

This time last year, he was simply someone who would be part of the roster without any direction and now, he’s in main event spots with guys like Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar – that's what you call progression.

It’s no secret that he’s been working hard in all aspects to get to the stage he’s at now. He can talk on the microphone a lot better, he’s improved a lot in the ring and he’s got himself into brilliant shape; he looks imposing and has turned himself into something that Vince McMahon would love.

It turns out that could well be the case, as WWE has some big plans in store for The Monster Among Men, and they intend on going ahead with them.

We saw Strowman steal the show on Monday Night RAW this week, as he brutally attacked The Big Dog by throwing him from pillar to post, pushing him off the loading bay and then tipped over the ambulance, and it resulted in a petition being started against him too.

He’s asserted his dominance, and despite not having a great WrestleMania, the next few months could be huge for Strowman, per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

HUGE PUSH ON THE HORIZON

A user posted the report from the Wrestling Observer on Wrestling Forum, and explained that some big victories could be in store for Strowman.

It read: “Braun Strowman is scheduled to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship.

“WWE is extremely high on Strowman at the moment with him involved in Monday’s big RAW angle when he attacked Roman Reigns and sent him to the hospital, although the goal was to put him over as a heel, he may well have come out of it a babyface.”

The report went on to add that because Strowman lost to Reigns in their previous pay-per-view match at Fastlane, this means it could be his turn to pick up a win at Payback before his feud with The Beast Incarnate.

Giants like Strowman don’t come across often, and it would be a huge – and perhaps welcomed – surprise if he managed to dethrone Lesnar to become the Universal Champion.

The fact is, Lesnar can compete for a while inside of the ring, even if it does end up one-dimensional in most cases.

They need to keep Strowman as a huge threat, so WWE needs to ensure that even if Lesnar does retain, he doesn’t take Strowman to Suplex City and leave him there to an extent where there’s no way he can reach the level he’s at now.

While there’s no shame in losing to Lesnar, WWE shouldn’t make Strowman the sacrificial lamb as he has more to offer in the long-term, rather than just building up to the potential WrestleMania 34 main event between Reigns and Lesnar.

Despite all of that, things are looking good for Strowman.
