WWE has seen a drastic change over the years, and perhaps a welcomed one as guys you’d never think would be in the company are now playing important roles in programming.

The organisation is now more open to welcoming independent stars as they continue to improve their stacked roster, while also improving their content on the WWE Network by working with wrestlers from all over the planet.

PRAISE FROM FANS

One of the men that draws the most praise for all of these changes is Triple H, mainly because of the role he’s had on NXT and what he’s done to elevate guys like Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and even Shinsuke Nakamura.

That list doesn’t end there either, and it probably won’t as it’s clear just how much of an influence he has. For that, fans – especially on the internet – have either showered him with praise for the work he’s been doing or changed their perception on him with many claiming he simply married his way to the top of WWE.

However, Justin Roberts’ new book may tarnish that good guy image a little with some of the stories he’s sharing.

The former WWE announcer has recently hit the headlines for some comments on John Bradshaw Layfield, as the SmackDown LIVE commentator has found himself in the middle of a mainstream media storm with the whole bullying scandal.

Speaking to the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, he said: “There are a couple of things that come to mind that I write about in the book.

“When he was going to be wrestling The Undertaker at WrestleMania, he basically said he went into the locker room and looked around and there was nobody for him and nobody at his level besides The Undertaker.

“So, here is a guy in charge of building talent saying no talent is up to his level and that is why he got to fight The Undertaker at WrestleMania again. At the same time, when they did that storyline with the roster walking out on the company and he basically came in the ring and said how everybody is outside but he could have a better match with a broomstick than most of the guys anyway.

AGAINST INDIE GUYS

“He’s always doing whatever it takes to make himself look like Superman and to put everybody else down. He’s probably the most insecure person I’ve ever met. He constantly needs people around him telling him how great his ideas are and laughing at his jokes and he buries talent.

“This was a guy who was making fun of the indy guys that now he takes pictures with.

“All of a sudden, and now that they [WWE] realise that the football players and some of these guys that don’t know anything about wrestling that they were hiring for the Performance Centre, when they saw that wasn’t going so well they just turned to the guys that were already over and that way it made him look good to the internet and the internet has accepted him because he is running with the guys that the internet pushes.

“He was never for that in the past and all of a sudden, is a different guy.”

It’s obvious that The Game is now a big advocate for independent stars, and it’s surprising to hear why that may be – if the claims are true.
