Steff Wright would be willing to step down as Lincoln chairman if a new heir could be found at Sincil Bank.
Although the City supremo has no plans to quit the role, he would be prepared to move aside should a fellow director want to take on the responsibility.
The chairmanship is only open to the club's board and is voted for each year with Wright expected to be sworn in for a fourth term at a meeting next week.
He told the Echo: "I thoroughly enjoy being chairman. It is a responsibility I hold in high regard and something that I will continue to do, but I accept that there will be a time when somebody will want the reins and I will have no problem passing them over.
"It may be a member of the current board, or it could be from somebody who wants to pay to join the club as a full director and also has designs on becoming chairman in the future.
"If there is a wealthy businessman out there with the time on his hands and wants to do that, then by all means make yourself known and pick up the phone. But, ultimately, the opportunity for someone to take the responsibility is open to the board each year so the door is not shut on anybody."
