Surprise, surprise.

Just one game into the opening round Western Conference playoff series between the top seeded Golden State Warriors and eighth seeded Portland Trail Blazers, Draymond Green is at the center of the drama.

It took a 15-2 run to open the fourth quarter, but the Warriors got the job done, winning Game 1 by the score of 121-109.

Throughout the contest, Green, who had a sensational game with 15 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and five blocks, exchanged verbal jabs with both Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, who lead the Blazers on a nightly basis.

Green’s words certainly didn’t have a negative effect on the two players, however.

Lillard dropped 34 points with five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block while McCollum scored a game-high 41 points with eight rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in the loss.

After the game, it became apparent that all three players welcome not only the physical matchup, but also the mental battle as well.

"For me, it's just going to make me raise the level of my game because I take [Green's trash talk] as a challenge," Lillard explained to reporters. "I'm going to take exception to it, and I'm going to say something back. That's what it's going to be, as long as that's how he's approaching it -- it's going to be coming right back."

He continued, ”I think having a guy like that on the floor, I think it raises the level of the game, because I don't even talk trash, and he was saying so much out there that I had a whole lot to say tonight.”

We can only wonder what was said, but it probably would be very entertaining to listen to.

Green revealed one thing that McCollum told him on the court after a failed dunk attempt, and it’s pretty hilarious.

"Yeah, he told me I need to do more calf raises," Green admitted after the game. "No, we were talking back and forth the entire game, but that's just a part of the game. It's mutual respect both ways. We've played those guys last year in the series, but quite a bit over the last four or five years where you kind of know them, they know you.”

It seems like the trash talking is all in good fun, as the guys respect each other both on and off the court.

"But we all know each other off the floor as well. It's not like there's anyone out there being disrespectful towards another. It's fun. You hit a shot, he's talking to us. I hit a shot, I'm talking to them. I miss the dunk, he's telling me I need to do calf raises. It was good back-and-forth; it makes the game a lot more fun, that's for sure,” Green noted.

McCollum made sure to point out that none of the trash talking between the players crossed any lines.

"Yeah, he does need to do some calf raises so he can dunk," McCollum told reporters with a chuckle. "Yeah, it's a game. It's a game we all love. We come out here, represent our teams, representing our hometowns where everybody's from. And where I'm from, if you talk trash, then I'm going to talk trash to you. It's not disrespectful. We're not talking about nobody's mamas or nothing bad.”

Game 2 will take place on Wednesday at 10:30pm EST. There will be plenty of words exchanged between Green and Portland’s dynamic duo, but as explained above, there’s plenty of love to go around despite the on-court verbal assaults.
