Shanghai Shenhua sent shockwaves across the world back in December when they announced the signing of Carlos Tevez. The signing itself wasn’t a total surprise - Tevez, 33, had realised the standard of football in Argentina had declined dramatically on his return to his beloved Boca Juniors in 2015 while teams in the Chinese Super League (CSL) were starting to splash the cash - but the extraordinary amount of money they were paying the tenacious forward definitely was.Tevez became the highest-paid player in football history when the Chinese club agreed to pay him a staggering £615,000 a week.He was signed to score plenty of goals and make the difference for Shanghai Shenhua in the biggest matches. The South American striker made his debut for the club in arguably their biggest match of the season: a play-off against Brisbane Roar for a place in the Asian Champions League. However, Tevez - playing alongside the former Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins - failed to make an impact and his Chinese employers slumped to an embarrassing 2-0 defeat at the Hongkou Stadium. The former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus star has since scored one goal in four league appearances in the CSL. Hardly a brilliant return for a player earning more than half-a-million pounds every week.

Tevez has angered the Shanghai Shenhua fans

And to make matters worse, Tevez has now managed to infuriate the Shanghai Shenhua supporters.

It was announced back on Friday that Tevez had been ruled out of his side’s next match against Changchun Yatai because of a calf injury.

But instead of resting at home, the Argentine was photographed visiting Disneyland, much to the disbelief and anger of fans.

He was snapped wearing a LeBron James derby with friends and family members on Saturday while his team were battling to a 3-2 victory.

How Shanghai Shenhua fans have reacted on social media

Needless to say, the reaction on social media - per Goal - hasn’t been pretty.

“Shenhua have been through a bad patch, he doesn’t know it?” one fan wrote. “When every team-mate is working up a sweat, he is chilling out in Disneyland. What a ‘professional'.”

Another said: “How can he justify his incredible salary with such an attitude? He doesn’t care a jot for the team!”

And one fan even called for the world-famous player to have his contract terminated: “Tevez is always complaining of homesickness. I'm sick of hearing it. It's time for him to leave right now, for the good of both parties.”

The way things are going, it wouldn’t come as a major shock if Tevez’s spell in Shanghai ends up being a brief one.
