As far as grudges go in the UFC, they don’t come more real that the bitterness between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. It seems as if the pair have never liked each other, and that makes for great entertainment for the fans as that definitely translated to the Octagon when Bones picked up a unanimous decision victory back in January 2015 following a tense brawl during a promotional event before UFC 178.

HATRED

Since then, Jones has been involved in his fair share of controversy and while he claimed the interim light heavyweight championship after a less-than-impressive win over Ovince Saint Preux, DC is now the king of the division by picking up big wins over the likes of Anthony Johnson and Alexander Gustafsson.

Even though Jones is still under suspension with USADA after testing positive for two banned anti-estrogen agents ahead of UFC 200, it hasn’t stopped him from launching verbal attacks towards Cormier, just to remind him that he’s still around and whenever he’s cleared to compete, he’ll be coming back for the light heavyweight crown.

Jones decided to respond to an old Cormier tweet before the UFC’s FOX 24 event kicked off over the weekend, issuing a hilarious response to a tweet where DC criticised Jones’ knockout power.

TWITTER TRASH TALK

A fan perhaps didn’t expect Cormier to respond, after he claimed that he wants Jones to knock Cormier out whenever the fight next.

DC responded: “He won’t. He doesn’t have that ability. He never has. Even when he juiced his way to deadlifting 600lbs he couldn’t KO Ovince.”

The ‘juicing’ aspect of that would have certainly riled Jones a little, and responded with a brilliant tweet where he referred to the night he defeated Cormier.

Jones posted: “@dc_mma do you really think I took steroids or is that just another thing you tell yourself to sleep better after I made u forever my b***h.”

Ouch.

Cormier wasn’t going to let Jones have the last laugh, though, and reiterated his stance that Jones has been on steroids, although a second clash looks inevitable at this point.

Cormier added: “U hid from USADA burh. Yes u did steroids. You have always done steroids. U tried to cheat me. So shut ur bum ass up.”

Despite his thoughts on Jones and his belief that he’s on steroids, he’s claimed on multiple occasions that he’s keen on avenging his sole professional career loss.

Speaking to the MMA Hour, he explained: “If [Jones] for some reason wants to fight someone else and maybe get his sea legs back, [okay].

“Because if he goes in there with me right now like, walking like he’s…you know when Bambi comes out, he’s got them little Bambi legs? He’s got them sea legs.

"If Jon Jones comes back in the Octagon with those sea legs like he did against Ovince Saint Preux, then I’m going to smash him. He might want to get his sea legs back under him. He’s not going to come in there with those baby legs.”

This one is bound to get even more entertaining, especially since Jones will be free to return to the Octagon in July.
