The Golden State Warriors are going to be haunted by the ghost of the Cleveland Cavaliers unless they slay their 3-1 demons this postseason.Until then, the jokes shall commence. The Warriors unveiled their playoff slogan - "Defend Our Ground" - one day after the Cleveland Cavaliers did. The problem? Golden State's phrase is pretty much the same as the Cavaliers' "Defend The Land." The jokes were there for the taking, and social media came with hit after hit for the Warriors. Golden State probably had their motto picked out well in advance, but the Internet doesn't care about silly facts. It's about getting as many jokes off as quickly as possible. It's definitely not the Dubs' fault, either. They didn't open the playoffs until Sunday, while the Cavaliers officially opened the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers as the first game of the NBA's postseason on Saturday. The Warriors had the "Defend Our Ground" shirts laid out across every seat in Oracle, and we're willing to bet those shirts were printed well before Cleveland's playoff opener. Perhaps it's even more poetic, though, that everything fell into place as it did.The side-by-side comparison makes it look pretty bad for Golden State, though. Suddenly, the Internet had a brand new meme to drive into the ground:

The snark was real, and after seeing the Cavaliers' shirts someone on the Warriors PR staff had to see this coming. There's no way a team that blew a 3-1 lead could get away with poaching - even inadvertently - the phrase from the team that successfully made said comeback.

That's perhaps especially true when the needle on the Warriors' status among social media junkies has been moving more toward celebration of any schadenfreude scenario. This, with the playoffs opening, was the perfect storm to birth the first NBA playoff meme.

There will surely be more, too. With the regular season ending, eyes shift to teams like the Warriors and Cavaliers on a more full-time basis. Someone notices something out of the ordinary, someone notices them notice it, and suddenly the whole Internet is abuzz.

Even though the Warriors beat the Cavaliers soundly just two playoffs ago they're now stuck in the 3-1 shadow that looms over them. Should they go on to beat LeBron James and Cleveland, perhaps the shade will die down.

Until then, you better believe if there's a will to crack a Cavaliers joke at the expense of the Warriors, it will happen.
