Gerard Pique only posted ‘…’ on his Twitter following Cristiano Ronaldo’s offside goal but that was enough to break the internet. The Barcelona defender was reacting to Ronaldo’s second goal of the night against Bayern Munich, scored midway through the first half of extra-time.Despite the fact he didn’t post a single word, Pique’s tweet has already received 120,000 retweets, 106,000 ‘favourites’ and over 27,000 replies, making it one of the most popular football-related tweets of the season. This isn’t the first time that Pique has reacted on Twitter to a controversial refereeing decision in favour of Real Madrid, whose supporters must have expected the Barça icon to pipe up.

Sergio Ramos was also less-than-surprised after being informed of Pique’s antics after Madrid’s 6-3 aggregate victory over Bayern.

Ramos responds to Pique's tweet via the media

The centre-back provided the perfect response to his Spain international teammate’s tweet via the media.

"He should rewind and look back to the PSG game and see if he thinks the same about the referees, let's wait and see what happens with Juventus in the second leg," Ramos was quoted as saying by Marca.

Burn.

Barcelona benefitted from refereeing decisions v PSG

Ramos was, of course, referring to Barcelona’s 6-1 victory over PSG in the previous round of the Champions League back on March 8.

Several decisions went in favour of the Catalan giants that evening, leading to accusations that referee Deniz Aytekin and UEFA wanted Luis Enrique’s side to advance to the quarter-finals.

PSG, according to the Telegraph, even sent a five-page letter of complaint to UEFA about Aytekin’s performance.

Ramos admits he's in favour of VAR

Real Madrid’s controversial victory over Bayern Munich - controversial because of a harsh red card issued to Arturo Vidal and two offside goals scored by Cristiano Ronaldo in extra-time - has sparked yet more debate about the impending introduction of a Video Assistant Referee [VAR].

Ramos, despite the fact his team benefitted from refereeing mistakes on Tuesday evening, believes VAR can only benefit football.

"You have to live with these decisions although I am in favour of the VAR," he added.

Ramos and his Real Madrid teammates will find out their Champions League semi-final opponents when the draw is made on Friday morning.
