On Monday Night RAW this week, the show's general manager, Kurt Angle, announced that Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman would have a match against one another at Payback later this month.

This comes after The Monster Among Men tipped over an ambulance while The Big Dog was in the back of it, causing the former Shield member the following injuries: a separated shoulder, cracked ribs, and internal injuries.

Strowman boasted about the attack this week on RAW, which led to the booking of the match. Rumors then started going around that a stipulation would be added to the bout for two reasons.

One reason why a stipulation was being planned for the match was so Strowman could keep his momentum going, which has been strong for a while now, into SummerSlam season for his predicted clash with Brock Lesnar for the Universal championship.

The other reason was so WWE could book the match in a way which allows Reigns to lose the contest without being pinned. So what kind of stipulation is the WWE going with for this Payback match?

Cageside Seats has reported: "The stipulation the Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns match is likely to get is an Ambulance match."

This would a fitting stipulation for their match when you consider how Reigns' injuries occurred in the first place. It would also meet all the criteria necessary for WWE to keep momentum on The Monster Among Men as well as avoid The Big Dog being pinned as Ambulance matches take place under hardcore rules.

There are no pinfalls, no submissions, no disqualification, and no countouts. The only way which a superstar can earn victory is by forcing their opponent into the back of an ambulance and closing the door behind them.

There have only been four ambulance matches in WWE history, two of which have been won by John Cena, one by Kane, and one by Bray Wyatt.

Wyatt's Ambulance match was the most recent Ambulance match to have taken place. It happened on the first RAW of 2015 and it was against Dean Ambrose. Wyatt won the match when he delivered a Sister Abigail on the floor of the ambulance to The Lunatic Fringe.

It looks as though another former Wyatt Family member is going to be adding his name to the list of superstars who have won Ambulance matches.
