When Juventus drew Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final, Dani Alves must have have been dreading it.The Brazilian left the Camp Nou last summer after eight successful years at the club. It’s clear that Alves still loves Barca and his behaviour in the past week has made sure that Barca fans love him back. The first instance could be seen when Alves refused to celebrate Paulo Dybala’s opener during Juventus’ 3-0 victory against Barca in the first leg.

He later revealed that he didn’t feel like celebrating because he felt bad for his friends.

Then, ahead of the second-leg, he was seen kneeling down and kissing the Barcelona crest on the side of the Camp Nou pitch ahead of his side’s training session ahead of the game.

He then missed the kick-off for the second-leg because he was too busy greeting everyone on the Barcelona bench. Crazy scenes.

If that wasn’t enough for Alves to go down as a Barca legend, at full-time, instead of celebrating, he comforted his former teammate Neymar after he burst into tears.

And there was still time for one more act of respect towards his former club.

In the customary dressing room selfie after a great result, the Juventus players could be seen celebrating.

But not Alves. Whilst he appeared in the photo, he barely raised a smile.

Barcelona fans react

And it certainly didn’t go unnoticed by Barca fans on Twitter. Check out their reaction:

While Barcelona’s stars will have to pick themselves up ahead of Sunday’s massive El Clasico, Alves’ Juventus look on course to complete a historic treble.

They’re eight points clear in Serie A, through to the final of Coppa Italia - where they will face Lazio - and are now in the last four of the Champions League.

Alves is in no mood to celebrate victory over his former side, though.
