If you were asked to pick a Premier League Team of the Year at the midway point of this season, there's a good chance Diego Costa would have featured.

Before Christmas, the Chelsea striker had scored 13 times and looked well on course to be among the top scorers at the end of the season.

But after getting his head turned by a huge offer from the Chinese Super League in January, Costa has been unable to replicate his fine form from earlier in the campaign and missed out on the PFA Team of the Season which was announced on Thursday.

Just four more goals have followed since and there is expected to be renewed interest in his services from the Far East once the transfer window reopens in the summer.

However, according to The Sun, European giants Juventus would also like to sign the Brazilian-born forward.

Mario Mandzukic is considered likely to leave Turin at the end of the season and the Serie A champions are eager to replace him with a top quality striker.

Nevertheless, Costa is less than enthused by the prospect of being backup to Gonzalo Higuain and has reportedly already turned down an offer.

It's a blow for Juve but could trigger a striker merry-go-round if Costa gets his preferred move.

The 28-year-old would like to return to Atletico Madrid, where Antoine Griezmann could depart for Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte is believed to be willing to let Costa leave Stamford Bridge and has lined up Alvaro Morata as his replacement.

Who Real Madrid would replace Morata with is anyone's guess.

Of course, China remains a legitimate option for Costa too.

The owner of Tianjin Quanjian revealed they are still interested in acquiring his signature while Goal understands there are three other CSL teams also preparing to make a move.

"I can only say that we are still working on the deal [to sign Diego Costa]. And we have already made contacts with several players,” Tianjin owner Shu Yuhui told Sina Sports, as per Goal.

"We have high standards [when it comes to buying foreign players] and those players prefer top clubs such as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. It’s safe to say that we have the same transfer targets as those illustrious clubs.

"We may have to pay bigger price because our club are now competing with Real Madrid & Bayern Munich.

"As for who will join us in June, let’s wait and see."
